Crownsville, MD – In August, home sales were up and foreclosures were down, according to the latest edition of Maryland Housing Beat, DHCD’s monthly statistical profile of the state’s housing economy.

Maryland Housing Beat is an in-depth review of housing-related statistics, drawing from data compiled by DHCD’s Office of Research and Statistical Analysis from a broad range of sources, including the National Association of Realtors and the Maryland Association of Realtors, Freddie Mac, the Mortgage Bankers Association and RealtyTrac.
The August data paint a picture of a steadily improving housing market, including tightening inventory, increased home sales and rising prices. Residential building permits, a leading indicator of home construction activity, posted the highest monthly volume of the year.
